Sculptor

Shawn Grant - Sculptor - SLC, UTSculpting is the result of a nontraditional path, shaped by years of inventing, designing, engineering, and just making stuff, along with a constant curiosity. I’ve always been drawn to form and structure, even if I didn’t call it sculpture at the time. The itch was always there.

More recently, that path has shifted. A deeper sense of awareness and a personal spiritual transformation have changed how I approach creating, and life in general. Sculpting feels less like something I decided to do and more like something I finally allowed to happen.

That awareness carries into the work. It’s informed by a lifetime of observation and an underlying empathy I didn’t fully recognize at the time, quietly absorbing feeling and experience that now naturally finds its way into the work. The work tends to evolve organically, guided as much by instinct and emotion as by observation and continues to evolve as I develop my own style and technique. The Wasatch Skier series is where I’m currently focused, building skill through figurative realism while exploring other directions to see what emerges.
